Combat1. Weapons and ArmorRangers wear medium armor and can use bows, crossbows, one hand slashing, one hand piercing, one hand blunt, hand to hand, and thrown weapons. Rangers can dual weild but cannot use two hand weapons. 2. Styles and Progressive Combat Forms Rangers can choose to be in one of any three styles. The longer a ranger continues fighting the same target the greater the bonuses he gets from his style. If he switches targets his stance bonus goes back to the base level of the style. Known Stances:

  • Offensive Style - Increases damage and decreases ability to avoid attacks.
  • Evasive Style - Decreases damage and increases dodge and ability to avoid incoming attacks.
  • Precision Style - Increases accuracy and lowers mitigation.

 3. Chain AttacksThe Ranger has many special attacks. Some can only be used when using a particular stance. Many of her attacks are quite flexible and can be used either as an opener, bridge or finishing attack. The benefits of using a special attack depends how it is used. For example, an attack used as bridge may buff the Ranger’s damage but if used as finisher the length or power of the buff is increased. Two types of know chain attacks are:

  • Windsong - (Obtainable at level 6.) The chain is Blade of Summoner followed by Blade of Winter and then Windsong. Successfully completing the chain attack allows the Windsong attack to strike the enemy at least twice.
  • Blade of Storms - (Obtainable at level 20.) The chain is Sweeping attack followed by Sweeping Strike and finishing with Blade of Storms.

4. Counter AttacksRangers get reactive counter attacks that will add bonuses. The Ranger’s first counter attack is Rancor obtained at level 10.5. ArcheryRangers can choose how long it takes them to draw back their bow. The longer they draw their bow the more their accuracy and damage increases. The Ranger is the most skilled archery class. Rangers will have a number of advantages over other archery classes.

  • Rangers will have higher archery skills than other classes.
  • Rangers will be able to use Long Bows much earlier than other classes.
  • Ranger bow shots will be more powerful and take less time to aim.
  • Rangers while aiming their attacks will be able to move better and be less vulnerable to enemy attacks than other classes.

 6. Crowd Control Rangers will get an ability that allows them to pacify an enemy with a shot. They will also have snares and roots. 7. Buffs Rangers will get Ranger only and group buffs. 8. HealsRangers will have small heals that can be made more effective using reagents obtained from using their foraging ability.V. NatureRanger spells and abilities will have a nature theme.VI. StealthRangers can stealth at level 12 with the ability, Nature’s Guise. Vanguard NPCs have a perception and aggro radius. Their perception radius is generally larger than their aggro radius. What this means is a mob might perceive you and break your stealth, but it will not attack you if you are outside of its aggro radius. VII. ForageRangers will be able to use their forage ability to find useful items for their class. Forage will allow them to find components for ranger only arrows and bolts and herbs that will help make their heals more powerful.VIII. TrackingRangers will have tracking abilities but little is known about this ability at this time.IX. Skill PoolA Ranger will have certain ability pools. Each ability pool will have skills. There will not be enough points to maximize all abilities. There will be choices to be made in which skill pools to raise. Does the ranger want to be a combat ranger or more of a scout type Ranger?X. AttributesRangers will place attribute points into strength, intelligence, dexterity and agility. Strength will add to melee and archery damage. Dexterity will add to the chance to hit your enemy. Intelligence adds to the ability to spot threats and weaknesses, while dexterity and agility effect combat performance and survival. Sigil wants you to have a tough choice in placing your attribute points. XI. Known Styles and AbilitiesThe energy and endurance cost of using a particular ability increases as one levels. These costs were derived using a level 12 Ranger.

  • Offensive Style - Increases damage and decreases ability to avoid attacks.
  • Evasive Style – Decreases damage and increases dodge and ability to avoid incoming attacks.
  • Precision Style– Increases accuracy and lowers mitigation.
